We recently came across the Argonaut blog - John Owen's blog devoted to the Argo series of Shakespeare recordings published on LP's between 1957 and 1963. Patrick Wymark was a regular contributor to the series which mixed a core of professional actors with enthusiastic students.
The January 20 entry, so appropriately for the day on which President Trump is sworn in, is The Comedy of Errors.
A few days back, John reviewed Patrick Wymark's Richard III, "a croaking, earthy creature prone to sudden calculated leaps". But I chose to link to an earlier piece which told me much about Wiliam Devlin - the beautifully articulated, slightly preposterous Sir Gerald Merle MP in "The Plane Makers". The review is of Titus Andronicus, in which "Devlin's display of Shakespearean performing in the heroic style is fascinating and emotionally compelling." https://argonautblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/21/titus-andronicus/
